Hey Guys.
I want to thank all of you so much for signing up on my website, and taking the time to support me and send me your notes. My life has been crazy since Hunger Games was released. I feel really fortunate to have been a part of this incredible movie, and so thankful for the support I’ve received from all you. I truly have the best fans in the world.
Since the release of the movie, I have been busy reading scripts and meeting with producers and directors on new projects. Choosing my next role is challenging, because I want to find a part that has range and gives me the opportunity to work with veteran actors. I know I have a ton to learn in this business, so I want to make sure I always surround myself with people that are better than me so that I can learn and grow. Hopefully I will find a project soon – and as soon as I do, you guys will be the first to know. I am really looking forward to working again, so hopefully I will have some news for you in the next few months.
I have had a bunch of requests to do interviews and appearances recently so I am fitting these in as much as I can. I am being interviewed on a panel in front of 1600 people this week, for a conference called “Pacific Edge”. The attendees of the event are all presidents and CEO’s so it’s a very interesting crowd. The purpose of the conference is to gather leaders in industry to be interviewed about their personal life journey. I will be speaking about the acting industry, and my manager (my momager) will be speaking as well. Mario Lopez will be our interviewer and the segment will be aired on Extra. It should be awesome.
As far as my music goes, I’ve been working on a couple more singles which I am really proud of, but I have had to take a break from things because I broke my hand playing basketball with a bunch of my buddies. It’s been a bit of a drag dealing with a broken right hand, but I am getting used to it. The doc says it should heal in about 6 weeks, so I guess that’s not so bad, and as soon as it is healed I am going to get back to recording.
I am looking forward to being a presenter at the Canadian Much Music Video Awards, which are coming up in June 2012. It is a really fun event the includes such bands as The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, and Nickelback, and it will be great to be back in Canada.
I have also been invited to be a part of an event called 24 hour Plays that I am really hoping to work into my schedule. It combines the efforts of a director, producer, writer and actor and the group has 24 hours to create a play to perform in front of a live audience. All proceeds go to charity. This is something I definitely want to be a part of because it incorporates all the aspects of live theatre into one night. I will keep you posted as to the location etc.
A lot of you have asked me about getting into the biz and how to go about it. The best advice I can give if you are truly passionate about becoming an actor is to get out there and give it 100 percent of your attention. You will need an agent, so don’t take no for an answer. Get yourself into top physical condition both physically and mentally – your body is your tool, so it needs to be treated as such. Study, study, study…. And make sure you are learning from someone who is a true working actor and has talent. Get rid of all negative energy and surround yourself with people who are positive. And finally….never stop believing in yourself. If you want something in life, only you can make it happen. Set a goal, plan the steps, and go for it.
I just received notice that I have been nominated for MTV Movie Awards “Best Fight Scene” along with Jennifer and Josh. The awards show will take place on June 3rd., but you can choose your favorite nominee starting May 1st. Let’s see if we can get Hunger Games one of its first awards. Don’t forget to vote!
